POSITION VACANCY NOTICE
The Washington University Libraries in St. Louis are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and technically-oriented colleague to fill the half-time position (20 hours per week) of Modern Graphic History Library Curator. The curator will be responsible for the acquisition, arrangement, description, and preservation of archival collections; provide reader services and assist with classes; create and maintain a unit web page; work on digital projects, exhibit preparation, and special events. Reports to Head of Special Collections.
QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree, preferably MLS, archival/museum studies master, or masters degree in art or art history, required; previous archival or curatorial education/experience preferred; ability to work with details in an organized and accurate manner; demonstrated research ability; familiarity with XML desirable; knowledge of current archive or museum preservation practices; knowledge of archival digital imaging and metadata standards; Ability to work with the public in a helpful and courteous manner; evidence of written and oral communication skills.

Jefferson College has an opening for a part-time librarian at its Arnold Education Center. Responsibilities include reference, bibliographic instruction, circulation and patron support with online library resources, computer hardware and software. Two evening shifts per week from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Start date: Week of June 2, 2008
Qualifications: Bachelors degree required with a minimum of nine hours toward Masters Degree in Library Science or toward certification as school librarian. Experience with computer hardware, word processing, presentation software and spreadsheets required. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Hourly pay rate without MLS degree or certification as school librarian is $15.00.
Hourly pay rate with MLS or certification as school librarian is $16.00.

The Film and Media Digital Archivist will assume management responsibilities of all digital activities and initiatives in the Archive. This individual will coordinate efforts to digitize materials in the collection and develop strategies for long-term preservation of these digital assets. The Archivist will also contribute to the efforts of the Digital Library initiative by working closely with Digital Library Services (DLS) and spearhead efforts to enhance our online resources. The Archivist will work with others within the library system and with faculty to facilitate and increase the use of digital materials from our collections on campus, in research, and in the classroom. The position reports to the Special Media Collections Archivist
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Masters Degree or Graduate Level Certificate in moving image archives, library and information science, film studies or other related degrees. Experience working with audio/video formats and files, digitization of linear media, website development, and editing digital media. Evidence of written and oral communication and web management skills. Previous archival experience or education. Preferred: Experience with editing software on Final Cut Pro is preferred. Previous archival education or experience preferred. Knowledge of African-American history and documentary filmmaking is a benefit. Knowledge of digital formats and African-American history, film, and documentary filmmaking. Experience working with digital video and audio equipment, files and formats, compression codecs, and web delivery.

POSITION VACANCY NOTICE
The Washington University Libraries in St. Louis, Missouri are seeking a USER SERVICES SPECIALIST. Under the supervision of the User Services Coordinator, this individual works with other technology staff members (Desktop Support, Programming, and Operations) and student workers to document work processes and to develop and implement changes necessary for improved customer service. In particular, the User Services Specialist works with library staff to identify and address end-user technical support requirements. The User Services Specialist also works closely with the Training & Administrative Officer and the Help Desk Manager to identify technology training needs for library staff and student workers to develop training programs meeting these needs, and to present or monitor presentation of training to ensure training goals are met. The User Services Specialist will participate in a team environment with Programmers and Operations staff to ensure that user functional requirements are met when designing or implementing new software or systems products. The User Services Specialist is expected to participate in system analysis and development in a team environment, with support and direction from other library staff, to keep our systems current with changing technologies. In coordination with other Systems staff, the User Services Specialist participates in the selection, training, and evaluation of student workers.
Qualifications Required: Bachelors degree in an information systems related field; experience conducting technology training in a one-on-one or small group setting; experience in assisting functional users in the identification and documentation of technology needs. Preferred: MCT or equivalent technology training certification; three or more years experience developing, conducting, and monitoring technology training in a formal classroom environment; experience writing technical proposals and/or developing process models to define user requirements; effective communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of staff; ability to work productively in teams; general knowledge of technology operations in a client-server environment; ability to assist users in defining detailed requirements and project scope necessary for technology planning.
