Copyright in a digital age
"Copyright and Fair Use conversations are changing. For a long time copyright and Fair Use conversations have centered around what you can and cannot do. Given the complexity of laws and the ease of distributing, publishing and remixing today, the focus is shifting to locating and using copyright-friendly resources. We'll review some basic copyright information, share a process for thinking through copyright issues, and show some copyright-friendly sites for images and music."
Presenters: Roger Bower and Cindy Marston, Academic Technology Facilitators at the Principia School in St. Louis
Ebooks
EBooks hold the possibility to transform our libraries but with Kindles, Overdrive, ebrary and more where do you begin? Take a tour of what’s going on in the world of econtent from suppliers to hardware to trends and more.
Presenter: Asia Gross is the Electronic Resources Librarian at the Missouri Library Network Corporation (MLNC). She works with Academic, Public, K12 and Special libraries throughout MO and IL to meet their eResources needs. MLNC is located in St. Louis, MO.
Social Networking
What is Social networking? What is Web 2.0? What is the impact of all of this on libraries? How does it translate into library 2.0? How do you use it in your library? Are you using various components such as blogs, facebook, twitter, delicious, dig, twitter, flickr and youtube, etc.
Learn more about how to use these tools to communicate better with your users. Librarians from a variety of libraries will discuss and show examples of how library 2.0 has changed their world and will continue to change it as these technologies multiply and change.
All of us are interested in what other libraries are doing and as the world gets smaller, each library will be helped by increased knowledge of the others. There will be time for a question and answer period.
PANEL: Ellen Eliceiri (Webster University’s Emerson Library)(Introduction); Gabrielle Corley (Webster Groves School District); Tom Cooper (Webster Groves Public Library)(Director); Asia Gross (MLNC); Lisa Wolfe (Jefferson College Library)(Director); Chris Durr (Kirkwood Public Library)
